My lasting impression of Lincoln involves an incredibly stupid and rude traffic cop. Granted, it was in 1968 but it sticks with you. I wouldn't live there for anything.

Interesting perspective - But having lived and worked in St. Louis and Atlanta, I happily settled in Lincoln because of the friendly small town atmosphere. I personally wouldn't trade my 5 min commute for the old 1hr 15min for nothing...It is said Lincoln is a big city with a small town feel.

I would imagine that A LOT has changed in the 46 years! since your unfortunate experience.

But as a craftsman, I find the abundance of bungalows and Arts & Crafts style homes with woodwork that can't be touched now-a-days to be particularly appealing.

That was mostly a getting-it-off-my-chest rant. I'm sure things have changed a lot. (The excuse I was given at the time was that cops from all over Nebraska were brought there to train. I'm not sure what that says about the state.)

I don't like Atlanta and would rather drive in Chicago than Charlotte. I live in an actual small town (6000) with no commute and don't like a lot of the changes I've seen here in the last 30 years. But if not for living here I would not be a fiddle maker, for good or bad.
