I had to take a break from making, ever feel that way? - and decided to draw something for a change. Of course, violins weren't far from my mind, as you might be able to detect from some of the teeny tiny details in this drawing I did yesterday. (Yes, at the workbench)

Are there any other people doing any such things, other than making?

I always wonder what other people on line really might be doing sometimes, I mean, things that might not be directly violin-making related?
And things that they might not otherwise post about?
And if they do do something else, is that something else ever impacted by their "violin-ish" obsession?

Tiny inquiring minds want to know? (and see)

I think that one will be needing a graft, Craig.

Here's what I'm up to: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mdarnton/sets

Nice, I like your style.

I'm doing some violin-related calligraphy. Nothing finished yet, but getting there

Ahh yes, your love of photography...

I must say that I'm still a huge fan of black and white. And film.
Even though "film" is a lot like being a modern proponent of vinyl, as in vinyl records. I like your color photography, but I am a huge fan of your black and white.

Another thing that I would consider an art form. Photography that is.

Casa Blanca was (is, actually) on the tube (tube - remember those?) tonight. Watching it I am reminded of just how much artwork used to be an integral part of film...

Thanks for posting that link.

Actually, I'm almost embarrassed by the way the scanner overlit the drawing... Those blacks are actually much more black on the drawing, and it's sort of washed-out here on-line.

But yes I've always drawn, and I'm working on getting back to where I was (before this stroke) some while ago - just like with the violin making.

Oh well, on goes the work!

Thank you Mr. J Goldsmith,

I would love to see some of this when you're done.
I'm sort of a long-long lost calligraphy wanna be. I've still got my set of pens and tips. I never really was any good though! Go figure.

Sure, but I'm working on a different project at the moment so I'll post that when it's done then the violin piece later (which could be a while)

I'm taking a break from the violin calligraphy, but here's what I've been doing in the meantime. As you can see, it's a bit of a mess and I made a lot of mistakes, but you get the idea!

By the way, I haven't done much writing in copperplate before (literally a few exercises) so take it easy on me!
