|
|
I have acquired a violin labelled Paolo Maggini 1624 (it has double purfling but hardly a maggini copy). None the less it has nice wood and looks great...but when I went to set it up the bass bar is set wide so that the outside edge of the bar is 21mm from center.
If I set it up with a wider bridge... what is the relationship of the string position (spacing) at the bridge to the bar and post position?
Thanks, Mat |

| I would ignore the bar, except I'd put the post in the same relative position. Fit a normal bridge on it, and it should work fine. The post/bar relationship is more important than the bar/bridge one. |

Thanks Michael... is there a relationship of the string position to the bar and s post or do you always use standard spacing? ie ... if the bar and post are futher apart... would you space the strings further apart?
As always... your advice is greatly appreciated!... Cheers, Mat |

| Use the regular string spacing--don't mess with the player! :-) |
