What are some recipes for a simple cheap varnish? I really like the look of manfio's violin finishes. _________________ Christian |

I believe Michael Darnton once saw a Stradivari violin that he felt might have been varnished completely with shellac... that's pretty simple!

Where are you located? I've seen some posts on one of the other forums about using Ace Hardware (in the United States) oil based spar varnish. The pictures looked good, and the person that did it claimed that it brushed on and acted just like other violin (oil) varnishes that he had used. _________________ Doug Wall
