The april issue of the Strad shows a picture of the Archinto viola on page 98. The nut appears to be unusual...does it overhang the pegbox?? Is there a story to this?
Just curious as I don't see many violas... Mat

I think you are referring to a cello like pegbox, with "shoulders", that we call "ganasce" in Italian. Players hate this type of pegbox because it plays havoc with their left hand.
