Today I had one of the best surprises ever that I just couldn't resist sharing! I took my two fiddles to the local Montreverdi school this afternoon to have a violinist play them for me so I could get some feedback on the instruments. She played them booth and liked them very much, the second one more so as it is a bit more open sounding. She had good comments about them both which is very incouraging. But the best part was when she pulled out her fiddle and said now listen to mine. As she played it was clear that she owned a very wonderfully outstanding sounding instrument. When she was done she told me that it was made in 1999 by Michael Darton! Wow I said, I know who he is! I would have never dreamed that there would be a Darnton fiddle right in our community and that I would ever have had a chance to listen to it and look it over!
Best of all I just wanted to thank Michael for all his contributions to the forums, and especially for a few tips he provided me on my first instrument, thanks Michael!!! What a great sounding instrument I heard today!!!
