Re: Violin does not have a nut.

After much research, I got myself a ebony nut blank and formed it to fit my violin.

Previously the violin had no nut, the fingerboard had been glued on right up to the end, and the strings ran off the end of the board with no gap underneath them.
I have since found out this was done by a relative when the board fell off, I guess the old nut got lost.

I set the outer strings 16.5mm apart with the strings evenly spaced at 5.5mm
The gap underneath the strings may be a bit on the high side at 0.8mm but that can be lowered at a later date if required.

I must say it feels different to play now, I like it.
Thanks to those who have contributed your help and information is appreciated.

Ted
