This is for older players who remember Valve radios.Itzak Perlman listened to violinists on valve radios . How do modern radios compare ? Did the old radios have better , Warmer Tone?
One strange piece of technology says that valve radios used even harmonics ,while modern radios use odd harmonics which cause more stress . What`s all that about ?

Do a web search about electric guitar tube amps. There's probably a lot there to find, since they still use them, for reasons.

Well I won`t say violin players don`t listen to amplified guitars . What I am interested in is the radios used today if they are not valve driven .
Are Violin addicts also Audiophiles ? Like --What`s in your Rig ?
Also my question edges into Audio Recording Technicians mucking about with the original sound before it is presented to the public . Tweeking ,Smoothing all the technical things to hide what they don`t like .--What the technicians don`t like --even if they don`t play violins .
Looking at how tiny radios are getting --I would be surprised if anyone could be inspired by violin music unless they went to a live concert .

I was mostly asking about personal listening that affected players influences when they were young .You could say I never had a proper radio .We had Rediffusion .That was a big bakelite speaker wired in to the area. Just a ten inch speaker .One volume control and a separate program switch . No valves or dangerous voltages to bother about .The BBC knew about Menuhin and Heifetz .They played on Light Music programmes and the venerable Third Program .
A record player arrived one day to play Bill Haley and the Comets .I used the library to borrow vinyl records .Before that we had a wind up gramaphone that weighed a ton. The old records weighed even more . A huge contrast to modern gizmos with tiny speakers . It was too early for amplified guitars and distortions .

The old Rediffusion system , probably not very expensive , provided Hi Fi sound with a basic 10 inch speaker . The difference today is you will seldom if ever hear a double bass solo or deep bass singers on radio programs.I remember that kind of music growing up. Now mostly using a laptop , tv ,or radio it just would not work . Broadcasters would know that and steer away from that kind of music . They will broadcast symphonies but unless you have suitable audio at home it will not work properly .
