Manfio,
When ever I look at your photos on Flickr (& etc.), I'm struck by the fact that you're a modern alchemist of sorts. Lost in a craft of the past, but someone who involves himself entirely and continuously in the world today, currently and continually creating accomplishments that are sort of indicating a bygone era, but obviously not in the past yourself at all, but solidly with feet planted in the present.
I must assume that those are your children (or perhaps grand kids ?) helping you out with your obsession of making, and creating string instruments? They look engrossed and captivated in what they are doing.
Very cool.
How extremely pleasing that must be.
I have most every one of my eight grandchildren playing violins now, that I have provided for them, thinking that when they grow up, they will be able to do something that I only wish my own parents had done for me - and that is, provide me with an active musical background and understanding, before I was an adult...
The oldest girl (one of my grand daughters) cannot decide between the guitar or the violin at this stage. The oldest grand kid period (one of my grand sons) is thoroughly dedicated to his violin, and is realizing that every other student around him is still in the beginning or learning stage, while he is in the "showing off" and playing either by ear, or by reading the sheet music immediately stage.
I can cope with that - and my own addiction to making violins seems to have a lasting effect on and in my own family's (and my extnded family) growth and formation.
Which I can also cope with. Still, I am thinking that MANFIO's family seems to be entrenched at least somewhat, in the MAKING ASPECT of the craft - to whatever degree.
Just saying.
How utterly cool it seems, from where I am sitting.
Yes MANFIO, Thanks for posting all the stuff that you have posted! _________________ Look,

To repeat;
Manfio,
Just saying.
And I'll say it again;
How utterly cool it seems, from where I am sitting.
Yes, I love wandering around your violin photos on flickr... _________________ Look,

Luis, that viola looks like sunrise over a placid lake! Beautiful!
Did your son build that, or is he just helping? It looks like your work, but there's this youngster floating around that seems to be involved somehow.
Congratulations from Oregon! _________________ Chet Bishop

Yes, I must insist that Manfio is a master maker, in a-midst us "mere" makers here. (Well with the exception of Mr. Darnton, who, of course, is also a master of the art.)
So, here we have two greats in the field. I'm really curious who else out there is, or could be, classified in this category?
Am I neglecting to give someone proper credit?
In any case, thank you Manfio, for posting those photos.
They show a great thing. You may be long gone when one of your sons is posting about his beginnings in violin making, which he will attribute to his dad.
Or perhaps you'll still be around - with a much longer (and much grey-er) beard - yelling - "trim that plate properly, darn it ! !"
Either way... it's very cool. _________________ Look,

Yes, I have to say that your son looks stricken with the fever, sorry, but that's the truth. _________________ Look,
