I am about to mix up a batch of retouch varnish that I usually use mastic tears for. Someone gave me some mastic powder with silicon dioxide in it for anticaking. Does anyone know if this type of mastic will work?

I don't know why not, assuming that the silicon dioxide would settle out so you didn't get it in the mix. Chemically there shouldn't be a problem.
