hi is there anyone out there who can tell me where to start i have glued the backplate of the violin cut out leaving 3mm overhang ready for finishing do i do the rough arching 1st or get the thickness all round of the plate outer edge
and also is the edge flat were the pufling goes thank you alby Crying or Very sad

Flat is a good place to start, but you can also do some additional roughing while you are getting the edge down. There is another approach or two, but we won't go there now.

You are a true optimist to leave only 3 mm overhang at this point. I leave about 5 and have never regretted it.
