Michael, I cut a new post and moved it inside about 3 mm and the G opened up like you described. The A was a little behind it so I then pulled the post tight to about 2 mm inside and the A came up to the other strings and the G stayed open as it had become. A better set-up than I had before to be sure. Thanks for the insight. As for any other improvements I will make on my instrument, your advice is the best: There's always next time.
