Tim Just to join in the chat about $iooo violins. I would agree with you .Your set-up skills with a new violin will not show it`s true worth straight away .I met one amateur maker in Newark in England at a violin making competition who was pleased to sell his violin for £400 .He later saw it was advertised and sold for ten times the price. He didn`t know whether to laugh or cry. Anyway, get the bridge tuned to 2.9 khz and you will really see what happens to the tone.
