I'm in the Denver, Colorado area.

I looked at the neck and it really appears to me that there is no paint on it. The design in the wood continues under the stain/varnish.

I can have a local store appraise the violin verbally for $ ...

I neglected to state that we found the violin in Denver, CO, but with 110 years on it, it could have come from anywhere. Someone did play it a lot, once upon a time.
